I love you, Dad.
So sorry for the loss of your father and grandfather. Gord was a true gentleman and he will be truly missed. He was never too busy and Always willing to lend a hand, he had a genuine smile for everyone!
I echo the Reitz comment, Gord was a true gentleman. He and I were both in Whitecourt and then in Fort McMurray. He truly lived the Rotary commitment of service above self. His contributions were many. May you rest in peace my friend.
My most sincere condolences to Gordon’s immediate family, relatives and his multitude of friends
I have such warm and fun memories of cousin Gordon. When I was a youngster, and He came to visit us; oh, poor Gordon. It wouldn’t take me long to beg him to go to the back yard and play fight I was relentless, showing no mercy. He would somehow tolerate this for an long while. Occasionally he would give me a slight tune-up. Eventually, he would surrender, saying that I was too tough for him. It took me a number of years to realize he could have put me in my place in seconds, but was simply being the gentle, easy going sweetheart that I remember so fondly.
Gordon leaves a huge hole. He was very selfless, and he left as a hero.
Tara, Dustin, Chris & Shawn, We were so very sorry to hear about Gordon our hearts are broken. We have been friends for many years. Our deepest sympathy to you all.
My wife and I have great memories of Gord while we worked in Fort Chipewyan from 1987 – 1991. He was a supportive and inspiring Superintendent. We enjoyed the adventures and the visits. Gordon considered many situations most would think are barriers, to be new challenges to tackle. We are grateful to have known such a wonderful person.
Gordon hired me as his assistant forester in Whitecourt in 1978. He was the one who initiated me in the art and science of forest managemenbt and was a wonderful and supportive start to my career. I owe him a lot and am very saddened he is no longer with us. RIP my man.
I first met Gordon when I was a Forest Officer in the Whitecourt Forest. Our paths crossed again when he hired me as the Chief Ranger for Fort McKay District in 1991. We shared a lot of memorable trips on the Athabasca River up to Fort Chip via jet boat. Fishing trips north of Fort Chip was a regular adventure in the fall. Gordon was a good and supportive boss during my time in Fort Mac. RIP Gordon – keep that smile forever.
Uncle Gord plays such a great role in the family stories: Always up for an adventure, unafraid of tough challenges. I won’t think of cross country skiing without thinking of him. The last time he was in Ontario he took me out to dinner, and I’m so glad I had the chance to hear all about his family and life in Fort McMurray. What an inspiration he was, I’m so sorry he is no longer with us.
Gord was always there to help. A wonderful Rotarian. His demeanor was kind and patient. He was a thoughtful listener. I always loved hearing about his grandson updates and his forestry days and his canoe adventures. I had hoped to one day canoe with him. Condolences to all of his family. Gord is missed. RIP my friend.
