Albina Sally Waquan
February 27, 1942 – April 5, 2023

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Albina Sally Waquan, age 81. She passed peacefully at the elder’s long-term facility in Fort Chipewyan on April 5, 2023, after a courageous battle with dementia.

Albina was born on February 27, 1942, on the trapline, located on Ambrass Portage to her loving parents, John James and Mary Rose Waquan. As a child Albina grew up on the trapline until the age of 6, then was enrolled in the Residential system until the age of 16.  Albina loved her home in Fort Chip, where she raised her children and grandchildren. Albina had a passion for baking, knitting and enjoying the outdoors. She also had a keen sense of humor.

She is survived by her children, Virginia (Bruno), Donald (Bessie), Beverly (Roy), Dawn, Trudy as well as numerous brothers and sisters: grandchildren: nieces: nephews: cousins: and friends.

Albina is predeceased by parents, John James & Mary Rose: brothers Brian, Georgie, Simon: sister, Vitaline: daughter, Shirley: and grandson, Shane.

A Visitation and Service will be held at Fort McMurray Funeral Home, 225-B MacDonald Crescent, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday April 11, 2023.

Following the Service, Albina’s cremation will take place.
