YoungKi Chun

1931 – 2023

YoungKi Chun passed away on Friday, June 2nd, 2023, at the age of 94, in Fort McMurray, Alberta.

YoungKi is survived by his children, Kumlyong and Kumoak.

He is predeceased by his spouse, Soobok Cho.

After fighting in the Korean War, starting a family, and working as a driver in Korea, he immigrated to Canada in 1996.

He fiercely took care of his body and was doing taekwondo and lifting weights until the end. Despite cultural and language barriers, he made friends wherever he went. He also enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden, landscaping, taking photos with his Polaroid camera, and cooking himself his favourite meals.

A Funeral Service will be held at 5:00 P.M. on Friday, June 9, 2023, at the Fort McMurray Korean Church, 101 Tundra Dr.
